[Guinean news] Govt, opposition open dialogue

Late last month, the government of Pres. Alpha Condé, political opposition parties and civil society organizations met with each other, according to Jeune Afrique. The dialogue was established to alleviate tension following the indefinite postponement of legislative elections that had originally been scheduled for last December 29. Despite this, several key opposition figures, most notably former prime ministers Cellou Dalein Diallo and Sidya Touré, were not present at the meeting.

[Guinea/RCPV news] Guinea RPCV to be on radio show today discussing journalism and democracy

Guinea RPCV Jennifer Swift-Morgan, co-founder of our partner organization Alliance Guinea, will appear on WNYC radio's The Brian Lehrer Show. She will be appearing with Nassirou Diallo, a Guinean journalist who fled the country following last year's massacres. They will appear on the show at around 10:30 am on Wednesday May 12 to discuss the topic of journalism and democracy in Guinea.
